Rhyniophytes
- Rhyniophytes are the earliest vascular plant but now extinct group.
- In Devonian period but no fossil appears after Devonian Period.
- Morphological features:
- They Lacks Roots but have Rhizome (Underground stem) with unicellular Rhizoids.(Similar to Ferns)
- Have a central column of xylem running through its stems, but no true tracheid cells.
- Have Aerial Sporangia. (Similar to Mosses)
- Have Dichotomous Branching.
